Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) is committed to sharing aquaculture technology with the local community. Dr. Supatcha Chooseangjaew, as a lecturer, was working on the intensive project, whose title is "the oysters for development of a high-density system of oysters to raise local economies in the Palian Basin, Trang Province." This project aims to transfer innovation to local fishermen with two systems of oyster culture: 3-Layer Sliding Plastic Mesh Nets and 3-Layer Plastic Baskets by Hanging. Surely, the important benefits from this project will help increase the carrying capacity of oysters per 9 square meters of area. This is an innovative project that is expected to improve the well-being and quality of life in local fishing communities while also achieving sustainable oyster culture in Palian Basin, Trang Province.
A semi-juvenile oyster culture was designed with 3-Layers Sliding Plastic Mesh Nets with a sieve size of 0.5 cm. The plastic sieves were then divided into 4 sets, including 150, 300, 450, and 600 individuals per plastic over a 7-month culture period.
In addition, this innovation received the Gold Medal Award from the 6th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN 2021, and the Bronze Award from the National Innovation Contest, "Regional Research Expo and Inventor's Day 2021," organized by the National Research Council of Thailand.
